Finishing up a decade-plus run on one of television's most popular series of all time, it's understandable that "Friends" star Matt LeBlanc, who played the lovable Joey, was nervous about the future. But unlike other TV stars desperate for that next taste of success, LeBlanc just wanted to fade into the background.

The actor recently sat down with U.K.'s Mirror to discuss the tough transitional period he went through post-"Friends." Suddenly a recognizable face worldwide, LeBlanc felt trapped by his fame and success.

"For years and years, I barely left the house," he admitted. "I was burnt out. I wanted to not have a schedule, not be somewhere. I was in a position to do that."

LeBlanc not only shied away from public places but also other job offers that came rolling in.

"My agent was bummed," LeBlanc continued. "Most actors call their agents and say, 'What's going on?' I'd call mine and say, 'Please lose my number for a few years.' It was a very dark time. I almost had a nervous breakdown."

Personal issues were also pushing LeBlanc further from the spotlight. His daughter Marina was diagnosed with cortical dysplasia, a condition that can impact the brain and motor skill development.

"I was a very dark period," he explained. "But I got through it. Don't they say what doesn't kill us makes us stronger?"

LeBlanc has since returned to TV, starring in Showtime's well-received series "Episodes" as a fictionalized version of himself. LeBlanc can also be seen reuniting with his "Friends" co-stars on Feb. 21 on NBC. Additionally, last week it was announced that LeBlanc would become the first American host of the British Show "Top Gear," as HNGN reported.
