Though the "Aquaman" solo movie is still a few years away, the character remains an important part of DC's cinematic plans. Jason Momoa ("Game of Thrones") will make his DC Extended Universe debut at some point during Zack Snyder's upcoming "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice." Not much is known about how Warner Bros. is approaching this once silly character in their more grounded DCEU. Fortunately, Momoa shed some light on their plans during last night's CW special on the formation of The Justice League.

As it turns out, the studio is going with an old school approach for Aquaman, borrowing from his Silver Age origin story. In that continuity, Aquaman was born as Arthur Curry, the son of a lighthouse keeper, and learns that is mother is the Queen of Atlantis. It is this background that Momoa is especially interested in exploring.

"He's the only one that's both a human and he's a god," Momoa said. "I want to see him struggle with the fact that he has these powers, and he doesn't know how to handle them. That he hasn't been trained."

Based on the information provided in the CW special, fans will meet Aquaman just as his special abilities are beginning to surface (pun intended). Where Superman has lived among humans all his life with the knowledge that he is from an alien planet, Arthur Curry will be conflicted by his duel identities. It's a new take on the classic "stranger in a strange land" storyline.

While the character suffers from internal turmoil, it sounds like there will be plenty of external battles to keep casual movie-goers interested. This will be the first superhero movie to showcase underwater sieges, and fans are excited to see how WB goes about this visually.
