Poppy is a timid hound mix who was left at Maui Humane Society, Puunene, Hawaii, on Jan. 6, 2015, according to the website. She is known as #29 Poppy and is "a white/brown spotted female hound/pointer mix that weighs about 48.6 lbs. and is approximately 5 years old. Poppy is a delicate flower that just needs a little TLC to blossom into the special little lady we know she really is," the humane society wrote.

"Poppy is just a little overwhelmed after being left here with no note on [Jan. 6, 2015]," the adoption center continued. "All she really wants is a patient new friend that will give her the sweet snuggles she so craves. If you have a calm home and love to share, please give Poppy a chance today!"

Pointers are "even-tempered, hardworking [and] loyal," according to the American Kennel Club (AKC). England is where the breed first popped up in about 1650, AKC said, and the breed was recognized by the club in 1884. "Pointers are generally a healthy breed," according to the site, and are a medium-sized dog with medium energy unmatched as hunting partners. Pointers love the outdoors.

Hound breeds, according to AKC, have incredible stamina and an unparalleled sense of smell. They, too, are easygoing and happy dogs most commonly known for sporting. Some hounds produce a, well, distinct sound referred to as baying. It is something you might want to sample before adopting a hound. However, Pets Happy Zone does not know if Poppy's parents passed down the peculiar noise.
