The Los Angeles Police are looking for two men who abducted a young girl from her bedroom Wednesday Mmorning, according to the Associated Press.
Authorities said two men took the 10-year-old girl and held her for almost 12 hours, and then left her near a hospital many miles away from her home.
The girl was not found until an individual, who remembered the red hair from media reports, called the police. The girl was walking near a Starbucks Coffee Shop.
According to Andrew Smith, Commander of the Los Angeles Police Department, more than 20 detectives are working the case. So far they have found one of the two vehicles suspected to be involved in the kidnapping.
Smith said the men took her to more than one location before dropping her off at the hospital. Police believe the girl did not know either of her captors. She was found with cuts and bruises that were taken care of at the hospital. She was also awake for most of the abduction.
According to Smith the girl was resting at home. Investigators are preparing to interview her a second time. Authorities have closed off various crime scenes to the public, which include a storage facility and some houses.
Smith went not to say that this kind of abduction is not anywhere near a growing trend.
"Right now we're looking at this as an abduction, a stranger abduction, one of those things that's very, very rare in this country but does happen," he said.
As of right now the police say one of the young men is approximately 18-years old. A description for the other has not been made public.
According to authorities, the only reason the girl’s information was released to the public was to aid an attempt in finding the girl. They have now asked that media outlets cease using her information in reporting until further notice.
