Did anyone see this coming?

Paramount Pictures has released a teaser for the post-apocalyptic thriller "10 Cloverfield Lane," a project that few knew was even in definitive development. Check it out below.

Enticingly disturbing, no?

With J.J. Abrams ("Star Wars: The Force Awakens") as producer, it's no surprise that the film had secretly gone under the names of "Valencia" and "The Cellar" while in production. Directed by Dan Trachtenberg, the film will serve as the long-awaited spirtual sequel to 2008's found-footage monster movie "Cloverfield," which was also produced by Abrams and directed by Matt Reeves ("Dawn of the Planet of the Apes").

"The idea came up a long time ago during production," Abrams said in a statement to Collider. "We wanted to make it a blood relative of 'Cloverfield.' The idea was developed over time. We wanted to hold back the title for as long as possible."

While "Cloverfield" covered the initial attack from the giant mystery monster, "10 Cloverfield Lane" appears to explore the aftermath of that event with different characters. From the trailer, we can safely assume they've hunkered down in a bunker to ride out the apocalypse. But you can only stay trapped in an enclosed space with the same people for so long...

The trailer will be attached to Michael Bay's "13 Hours" in theaters. The film stars John Goodman, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and John Gallagher Jr.

"10 Cloverfield Lane" will hit theaters on March 11.
