Twitter Launches Alpha Testing Program for Android Users

Twitter, after launching a beta testing program in August, has launched an alpha testing program for Android users.

After launching a beta testing program that allows Twitter users to experience the new versions of the app plus some features that are not yet officially launched, the social networking site continues its expansion with the introduction of the alpha testing program targeting a wider audience.

According to a forum post of the Android Alpha Program Google Group, the alpha testing program "will include earlier iterations of experiments."

Unlike the beta testing program wherein users just get a new look of the Android app for testing but aren't allowed to interact with the company aside from sending bug reports, the alpha testing program will let users to collaborate directly with the company through a forum and give direct feedback.

Technically, Apple testers will be a part of the improvement and may have the ability to influence the changes in the Twitter Mobile App.

According to TechCrunch, the alpha program will only be accepting requests on a first-come, first-serve basis as it will only have limited space. Those who will be chosen to take part in the testing will get an e-mail confirmation within a few days. However, the company warns that there might be stability issues and greater number of bugs than the beta program or other public releases, so those who use Twitter for work or those who need their account working perfectly fine all the time, should not take the risk of applying as a tester.

Aside from Twitter, Facebook and Snapchat have also started running tests in Google Groups and Android platforms in the past few months.

Twitter, however, is eager to experiment with its mobile interface. It even added a number of new features and alterations including interaction buttons on the mobile timeline, rich media-filled Twitter Cards, pre-expanded images, a blue line to connect conversations, and a lot more after the IPO event Friday.
