The new Pebble Time Round watch is gaining positive reviews from owners who were able get their hand on the newest wearable device early. Are the favorable impressions legitimate? The answer to this question is yes, and here are some of the top reasons why.

The Time Round is, first and foremost, a beautiful piece of hardware. It sports a circular case that is differentiated from the pack of round Android smartwatches by its thin construction. Side-by-side the Moto 360 and even the LG Watch Urbane, for instance, there is no contest that the Pebble watch resembles analog timepieces more than the others. This is what Pebble called as wearing smartwatch incognito. Also, unlike the Apple Watch, the Time Round does not look like a piece of a computer on one's wrist. The user interface in the watchface reinforces this argument, especially when viewed outdoors and under the direct glare of sunlight.

Pebble's immense battery life is another critical value proposition. It can last as much as three days with the display always turned on. This is an incredible feat in comparison with the likes of the Apple Watch and Android smartwatches, which mostly last 24 hours at optimum performance settings. This is made possible through Pebble's use of e-paper instead of LCDs found in most smartwatches today.

Consumers, however, who have been pampered with the feature-rich smartwatches, will be disappointed to learn that the Time Round has no touch screen functionality. The user navigates through the dials located on the side. It is also not as engaging as smartwatches with full color displays, particularly indoors where the competing wearables shine most, Tech Insider noted. Finally, it is also worth noting that the device is not water-resistant, unlike other Pebble smartwatches.

The Pebble Time Round is available at several retailers as well as Pebble's website for $250.
