TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin reportedly suffered a high ankle sprain in Saturday's win over Kansas 23-17, according to Travis L. Brown of the Star Telegram. TCU wasn't the only major college football team to lose a star quarterback Saturday, as Michigan State quarterback Connor Cook suffered a bruised shoulder in the first half in a win over Maryland 24-7, according to USA Today Sports.

The Spartans starting quarterback looked to be in severe pain on the sideline following the injury in a video posted Chris Vannini of Coaching Search. Cook was able to return to the game, but he only finished the first half before sitting the rest of the game. Cook has stated that he will be good to go against Ohio State next week, according to Spartans reporter Graham Couch.

The Spartans are 9-1 on the season, and a win over Ohio State will put them at the top of the East division in the Big Ten. With only two games left in the season, Cook's health could have a major impact on how the Spartans finish their season.

While Cook is expected to start next week against Ohio State, TCU head coach Gary Patterson said that he is hopeful Boykin will be able to play next week against Oklahoma, according to ESPN's Brandon Chatmon. Boykin rolled his ankle after a tackle early in the game Saturday, but he remained in the game for most of the first quarter. The injury clearly affected the Horned Frogs star quarterback, and he headed to the locker room in the second quarter. Boykin joined his team on the sideline and did not return for the game.

TCU barely got past a winless Kansas Jayhawks team without Boykin and will clearly need him next week against the Sooners. With Oklahoma and Baylor left on the Horned Frogs schedule, TCU fans will hope Boykin's ankle heals quickly.
