Sixteen-year-old Lorde's critique of Selena Gomez's hit song "Come & Get It" apparently did not sit right with the ex-Disney princess. When asked about the "Royals" singer's latest comments on her hit single, Gomez responded with a statement on feminism and how it does not involve "tearing down another artist."

Lorde's original criticism was aimed at a lyric from Gomez's hit song that she felt represented female sexuality in a troubling light.

"I'm a feminist, and the theme of her song is, "When you're ready come and get it from me." I'm sick of women being portrayed this way," Lorde previously told MTV News.

In a recent backstage interview with Hot 99.5, Gomez offered a rebuttal: "There's two different kinds of criticism. There's the people that hide behind a computer and want to say endless amount of things but never say it to your face, and then obviously there are the vocal ones. I appreciate everybody's opinion, especially because I've covered her music lots of times.

"I think [Lorde] is super talented and I think it's awesome. But I think at the same time that feminism and that specific thing is very sensitive because in my opinion it's not feminism if you're tearing down another artist. So that's the only thing that I feel but you know, she's young, she's got so much talent, she's gonna take over, she gets it, so I don't take it to heart."

Gomez has previously stated that her song "Come & Get It" is meant to be empowering and uplifting.

Recently, Lorde become infamous for her self-declared strong moral opinions on pop music, having criticized the work of everyone from Justin Bieber to Macklemore and Taylor Swift, and though she's clarified several of her original comments (as she is a Swift admirer), certain artists have not taken her statements so lightly.

Joe Jonas, who has dated both Gomez and Swift, took offense in particular and lashed out at the "Royals" singer on Twitter.

"Hey @lordemusic you say call me Queen B but you shouldn't be attacking all the true Queen B****es's #respect," he tweeted on Oct. 4.

Lorde, who just released her debut album, "Pure Heroine," told MTV News in a follow-up interview that she believes "there's a funny culture in music that's only happened over the last 15 years, that if you have an opinion about something in music that isn't 100-percent good, you're a 'hater,' even if you have perfectly reasonable grounds for that critique."

"People will say exactly what they think about a movie or a TV show, and that's fine, but as soon as you say it about a record, you're like some little zombie in a funny dungeon," she added.
