Motrin has voluntarily recalled close to 200,000 bottles of Concentrated Infants' Drops that might have small pieces of plastic inside them.
Johnson & Johnson's McNeil sector requested all retailers that carry the berry flavored 1/2 fl. oz bottles remove the product from the shelves, according to CNN.
"After releasing these three lots of Concentrated Motrin Infants' Drops Original Berry Flavor...into the market, tiny plastic particles (approximately 1 mm in size or about the size of a poppy seed) were identified in a different product lot during manufacturing. This lot was not released to the market," the company wrote on its website, adding that they'd traced the particles back to a shipment from a third party supplier of Ibuprofen-one of the key ingredients in the drops.
The particles have been identified as non-toxic.
The recall is a voluntary one, meaning the company has not yet heard reports of injuries or damages, but is taking preemptive steps to avoid any potential issues.
"The potential for adverse medical events related to the reason for this recall is not likely," Motrin wrote.
The lot numbers of the potentially harmful batch are DCB3T01, DDB4R01 and DDB4S01.
The company has requested that customers stop using the affected medicine, and to call 1-877-414-7709 to receive a full refund. If the medicine has already been administered to a child, there isn't a dire situation at hand, Motrin said, but to get rid of the box nonetheless.
