Target has officially confirmed the launch of a prepaid mobile service, "Brightspot", which brings to customers a wide range of attractive deals and devices starting Sunday, October 6.

Retail rivalries continue as Target tries to keep pace with Wal-Mart by launching its own prepaid mobile service. Target announced Wednesday that it will launch Brightspot for customers looking for attractive prepaid deals. The new mobile service will offer unlimited talk and text on T-Mobile's 4G network for $35 a month starting Sunday, October 6.

In a company blog post, Target highlighted two prepaid mobile plans -  customers can walk in to any retail outlet of the brand and choose from a wide range of basic phones and advanced technology smartphones, customers can also bring their unlocked smartphones to connect with Target's prepaid mobile service by picking up a SIM kit.

"We know guests are looking for customizable and convenient mobile plans that won't break the bank. Starting Oct. 6, Target will offer guests more options and flexibility with brightspot, the Bullseye's fresh, new mobile program. Brightspot brings together the mobile phone plans you want with the devices you desire," the retailer wrote in the company's blog.

Target offers unlimited talk-and-text only plans on T-Mobile's growing 4G network for $35 a month. Brightspot also covers high-speed 4G data up to 1GB per month for an extra $15. If customers want more data, they can opt for the $65 plan for 4GB data on T-Mo's 4G LTE network.

The icing on the cake for customers choosing to go with the Brightspot prepaid mobile service is that Target rewards a $25 GiftCard every six months of continued service. Additionally, RED card holders get a five-percent discount on each bill.

The latest move comes in direct competition with Wal-Mart's Straight Talk service. In a fierce competitive market, it is essential that retailers offer a wide range of services to fulfill their customers' needs. Target seems to be doing just that.
