On Wednesday night Fox News correspondent Megyn Kelly announced on her show, "The Kelly File," that she was taking a long 10-day vacation, according to The Daily Beast. Her time off comes one week after she co-moderated the first GOP debate and just days after presidential hopefully Donald Trump's questionable "blood coming out of her wherever" comment.

"It's been an interesting week. A long six months, without a vacation for yours truly, do you know that? It's been six months since I've had a vacation. Just ask my assistant," Kelly wrote on the Fox Nation website. "So I'll be taking the next week and a half off, spending some time with my husband and my kids, trying to relax."

A Fox News rep confirmed to HNGN that Kelly's vacation was "pre-planned."

Kelly faced relentlessly nasty insults from Trump and his supporters in wake of the GOP debate due to what some felt were aggressive questions Kelly asked Trump. Days after the debate Trump made matters worse and said he did not have a lot of respect for Kelly. "She's a lightweight," Trump told CNN's Don Lemon, according to CNN. "She gets out and she starts asking me all sorts of ridiculous questions and, you know, you could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever."

Trump's comments sparked outrage for the seemingly misogynistic remark. Three days later, Kelly addressed the remarks during the opening of her show. "You may have heard that there was a dustup between yours truly and presidential contender Donald Trump. Mr. Trump was upset with a question I asked him at the debate last week about his electability and specifically comments he had made in the past about women," she said.

Kelly returns to her Fox News show on Aug. 24.
