Everyone is security conscious, own up to it or not. However, this locking and typing password before using gadgets seem to be a little tiring and it sometimes gets on our nerves. Not just that, we, at times, even forget our passwords and getting it back takes most of our time.
Then came the pattern for screen locks, it’s not really that difficult to swipe a little but this new Nymi Bracelet is just impressive with the things it can do.
Bionym, the great mind behind this Nymi bracelet, wants to straighten issues about passwords by keying a wristband to your unique heartbeat, thus ensuring that the sole way to access a gadget is if the right person is wearing the bracelet.
The Nymi bracelet uses electrocardiogram or ECG authentication to unlock your Android and iOS devices, and your computers. ECG authentication is not just Nymi’s only ability; in fact, it can also gauge the distance between your device to your wrist, make payments, and distinguish specific gestures to activate motion-sensitive devices. Sensors in Nymi are able to rate an individual’s heartbeat and can recognize the subtleties of heartbeats to differentiate it from one another.
Nymi bracelet will take your heartbeat as you put it on, then deletes the heartbeat as you remove it. It reactivates when your wear it again as it will detect that it is being worn by the authenticated owner of the device. This way, it won’t give access to your gadgets if your bracelet gets stolen.
This device is, of course, not just for gadgets and computers. It can also be tied up with other platforms like bank’s automated teller machines (ATM).
After running tests on the device with a thousand people, Nymi bracelet was found to be as precise as fingerprint authentication and more precise that facial recognition.
