Sony announced on a Gamescom event in Germany on Tuesday that the Playstation 4 will debut in North America on Nov. 15 at a starting price of $399. European gamers will see it in their market by Nov. 29.
The USA Today was able to have a phone interview to Sony Computer Entertainment America president and CEO Jack Tretton to get more details about this much-awaited release of the fourth-gen Playstation. It's been a while since the PS3 was introduced and after almost eight years, it is just about time that we see a PS4.
"We're pleased to have some of the final pieces of the puzzle coming together for consumers to make their decisions," said CEO Tretton.
The new PS4 will come with 15 retail games available from November and 18 more will be added through end of the year. These games are developed by 2K, Activision, Electronic Arts, Sony, Ubisoft, and Warner Bros. Interactive.
The USA Today has a complete list of the 15 retail games readily available during the launch. Here is a rundown:
NBA 2K14 (2K)
Call of Duty: Ghosts (Activision)
Skylanders Swap Force (Activision)
Need for Speed: Rivals (Electronic Arts)
Battlefield 4 (Electronic Arts)
Madden 25 (Electronic Arts)
FIFA 14 (Electronic Arts)
NBA Live 14 (Electronic Arts)
Killzone: Shadow Fall (Sony)
#DRIVECLUB (Sony)
Knack (Sony)
Assassins Creed IV Black Flag (Ubisoft)
Watch Dogs (Ubisoft)
Just Dance 2014 (Ubisoft)
LEGO Marvel Superheroes (Warner Bros. Interactive)
Furthermore, Tretton added that they are eyeing to get up to 180 games for PS4.
Sony is positive that the launch will be successful as the new console is a $100 cheaper than its competitor Xbox One. About 1 million gamers have already pre-ordered the new Sony gaming console.
In preparation of the launch, Sony is planning to drop the price of its existing gaming consoles -PS3 and Vita- to $199.
