Ever since the first teaser trailer for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" dropped last year, fans knew to expect a varied version of the classic Stormtrooper look. Now we know why director J.J. Abrams chose to give the least accurate shooters in military history an upgrade.

As it turns out, these Stormtroopers are a part of a rapidly growing offshoot of the destroyed Empire, according to a reporter with IGN. The below tweet details the packaging of a new Stormtrooper action figured which provides some useful background information.

The latter part of the description is where we are given our new information.

"Yet the tyranny of Imperial rule sparked rebellion, and the Stormtrooper legions were scattered in the aftermath of the Empire's fall. Now, the rise of the First Order usheres in the next chapter in the Stormtrooper's legacy as a new era of ruthless brutality begins."

Fans first heard about The First Order back at the Star Wars Celebration in April. However, this new description offers some insight into their rise to power and the reason for the new look Stormtroopers. This group has taken the place of the Empire and will be the main source of opposition for our heroes. It is rumored that Andy Serkis' character, Supreme Leader Snoke, is a central part of The First Order.
