The death of Cory Monteith has rocked the hearts of "Glee" fans and casual viewers alike, as well as those who remember the Canadian-born actor as a kind and positive person who worked hard through his struggles with addiction. How did he spend his final night before he was tragically found dead?

HELLO! magazine reports that Monteith's final night was spent with "long-time sober friends," all of whom described him as doing "fine" that evening, as recalled by his acting coach Andrew McIlroy, who told People magazine that these friends had no negative influence on the star.

"They weren't strangers, they weren't bad guys," Mcllory said to People. "They were long-time sober friends. Cory knew them maybe ten years. Essentially, he had spent time with [them] as sober people. They were not using with him [that night]. There was no double life up here."

Sadly, Monteith was found dead the next day in his Vancouver hotel room on July 13, having died from a toxic mix of alcohol and heroin.

"There is no evidence to suggest Mr. Monteith's death was anything other than a most tragic accident," the Vancouver Coroners Service told FOX News at the time.

The star struggled for years with his addiction, having had been admitted to rehab at the age of 19. Last April, he voluntarily checked himself into rehab, of which his "Glee" co-star and girlfriend Lea Michele was very supportive.

"I love and support Cory and will stand by him through this," she said at the time. "I am grateful and proud he made this decision."

Lea Michele asked fans for her privacy during the difficult time after his death, and on Tuesday, posted a photo to Twitter of her back on the "Glee" set, posing solmenly.

"Glee" will return for a fifth season on Sept. 26, with a special memorial episode for Cory Monteith aired on Oct. 10.
