Apple's most-awaited wearable gadget iWatch is expected to start shipping only in 2015, sources revealed.

Apple's coveted iWatch may well be announced alongside iPhone 6 at a media event scheduled for September 9 but sources revealed to Re/Code that the smartwatch won't be available anytime before 2015. The new report comes shortly after the Cupertino tech giant confirmed the September event by sending out invites to the press. Specific details about the event are unavailable but it is widely expected to be a launch  for a new product.

Re/Code's latest report on delayed release of Apple's iWatch means the tech giant will be missing out on the peak selling season later this year. Sales of tech gadgets ranging from smartphones to tablets and eBooks see a spike during the holiday season. It is a well-accepted fact that many tech companies choose to release new products around the same time and Apple religiously waits till the end of the year before releasing a flagship product, be it an iPhone or new iPads.

On September 9, the tech giant will release its iPhone 6 with a larger screen.Consumers will be able to pick up both 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 variants later this year.

Apple's iWatch is expected to feature various capabilities like tracking health and fitness using HealthKit and it will be able to control smart home appliances via HomeKit platform. These features are in line with other speculations that point toward a new charging method for iWatch using solar, induction and motion.  Reports suggest the smartwatch will have a 2.5-inch curved OLED display with a slight rectangular design.

More official details are expected to arrive at Apple's event next month.
