The CW's The Vampire Diaries, or most popularly known as TVD, which is currently on a holiday hiatus, is set to come back on televisions in the second week of January next year, but speculations about the show's thrilling events are already surfacing online.

The supernatural drama series aired its most recent episode 7 on Thursday and it showed events which left the viewers hanging and craving for more episodes from the season. But one of the most anticipated events to happen in the second half of season 8 is the reunion of TVD main stars Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder.

According to a report from Jobs n Hire, it has long been rumored that Dobrev will return to the series as she was reportedly one of the reasons why the show was a success in the first place. Ever since her exit from TVD on the start of the seventh episode, fans of the actress have been waiting for her to show up in any episodes.

The source stated that Dobrev, who portrayed Elena Gilbert and former boyfriend and co-star, Ian Somerhalder, who presently portrays Damon Salvatore, will likely reunite in the season finale of the series. Neither of the two stars has confirmed this but fans have speculated for this event to occur basing from the tv spoilers appearing online.

And it has also been reported previously that Dobrev wanted to reprise her role on the drama series even for the very last time. Additionally, Somerhalder also expressed his willingness to work with Dobrev again.

Moreover, according to News Everyday, something terrible might happen on the finale of TVD. With Dobrev's character, Elena Gilbert finally waking up from deep sleep, she might not see the Salvatore brothers, Damon and Stefan (Paul Wesley) anymore as some spoilers revealed that they might completely be defeated by the villain character, Sybil (Nathalie Kelley).

However, Screener TV reported that an opposing scenario might happen. It can be recalled that Damon could not remember Elena anymore because his memories with her have been completely erased.

But the source reported that Damon's deep love for Elena might open the way for his memory to come back and might set him free from Sybil's curse.

Fans are really looking forward to these events when The Vampire Diaries returns next year. It is set to air its eighth episode for the eighth season on January 13, 20 17 on The CW.
