CBS's police procedural action drama television series, NCIS, is still facing cancellation rumors until now. Reports are claiming that the network's renewal for the show does not stop it from getting cancelled, especially now that the main cast is probably departing.

It was previously reported that actor Mark Harmon, who portrays the main character, NCIS Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs, is going to leave the show as advised by his doctor. The 65-year old actor was said to focus on his health because of a serious illness he has been experiencing, so fans might not expect him on the next season, if there is.

Former NCIS star, Michael Weatherly who previously portrayed former Detective Anthony DiNozzo, is set to return on the series to somehow boost its declining ratings. It can be remembered that his exit since the start of the fourteeth season had made quite an impact for the CBS show in terms of ratings and viwership.

However, recent reports are now claiming that the actor is cancelling his return to NCIS. This is reportedly because he found out that former co-star Mark Harmon will be departing the show as well.

Fans also speculate that without the two main actors, the series will never be the same as it was from the first season. Because of the possible change in the cast line-up, fans are now worried that the next upcoming season will not be pushing through.

NCIS is still airing on televisions with the episodes from the current season 14. On December 13, the tenth episode, entitled "The Tie That Binds" will be aired on CBS. TV Guide reported that the upcoming episode will focus on Donald 'Ducky' Mallard, portrayed by actor David McCallum, as the team finds out his connection to the murder of the Navy captain, which was first seen on the previous episode.

As of this time, CBS is still mum about the cancellation rumors but fans are hoping that the network is not really going to stop airing their favorite action series.
