One of the funniest parts of Saturday night's MTV Movie Awards was when Ryan Reynolds took the stage to accept his trophy for Best Comedic Performance for his hit movie "Deadpool."

Before Reynolds got up on stage to accept his award, a group of dancers dressed up as the Deadpool character and danced to Salt-N-Pepa's sonog "Shoop" alongside Zac Effron and Seth Rogen, who presented the actor with his award.

"I'm really glad Amy Schumer didn't win, that would be really weird with those dances," Reynolds told the audience. "I have been trying to get 'Deadpool' made for over a decade and I failed and it's you the fans that got this made. The reason I'm standing up here is because of you guys, and we had blast working on this movie, but it wasn't all unicorns and cocaine."

"I'd like to thank Twentieth Century Fox, the 'Deadpool' team, the entire crew up in Vancouver," he continued. "I want to thank my wife-everything I do is to make her laugh, especially the sex. Thank you."

Lively and Reynolds have been married since 2012 after they met on the set of Reynolds' first superhero film "The Green Lantern," which was a box office disaster. The couple have a one-year-old daughter named James.

Also at the awards, which were tapped on Saturday but will air on Sunday, Reynolds also walked away with the MTV Movie Award for Best Fight alongside his co-star Ed Skrein.

"Deadpool" has been in development for nearly 10 years before it was finally greenlit and was a hit at the box office as well as a hit with film critics. The R-rated superhero film made over $130 million in its opening weekend, which was nearly double what the studio estimated the movie would make.

"It's a romance wrapped in revenge, action and comedy," the 39-year-old actor previously said during an interview about the foul-mouthed superhero. "Deadpool is a mercenary. The movie takes this turn where he's obviously kind of hyper-funny, hyper-violent, but very meta. That's what makes Deadpool distinct."

The MTV Movie Awards ceremony airs on MTV Sunday night at 8/7c.
