The West Indies entered the semi-finals of World Twenty20 2016 from Group 1 after beating South Africa by three wickets in a low-scoring encounter at Nagpur on Friday. The Darren Sammy-led side first restricted Proteas to 122 for eight in 20 overs and then chased down the target in the 20th over.

"Yes I was smiling because of the position the game was, but there were butterflies in there. We came here to win this match and qualify, and we've done that, so we're really happy. Today we were under pressure chasing a low total, and every decision we took out there they (players) responded. But I really want to commend my team on (how my team coped with the pressure)," West Indies Skipper Darren Sammy said after winning Friday's match.

The Caribbean team is now looking to maintain their winning momentum in the WT20 when they face Afghanistan at Nagpur. They will also want to enter the semi-finals with an unbeaten record. The Afghans, on the other hand, were eliminated from the global twenty20 event. They lost three league matches and remained at bottom of points table in Group 1. They are now eyeing a consolation victory against the strong West Indies.

"It has been a lucky ground for us because we have won our first round over here in Nagpur. So definitely after playing three matches and coming back it's like a home ground and easy to adjust to the wicket. The boundaries here are very different compared to other grounds. They are longer boundaries and in addition to that we have good spinners. So, on this wicket our spinners will really help us to finish on a good note," Afghanistan skipper Asghar Stanikzai said ahead of their last league match on Sunday.
