Pakistan will take on Australia in a Super10 Group 2 match of the International Cricket Council (ICC) T20 World Cup 2016 Friday at Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali.

Australia and Pakistan are clubbed with hosts India, New Zealand and Bangladesh in a Super10 Group 2 of the world twenty20 championship. Group leader New Zealand has already sealed a spot in the semi-finals. Bangladesh, on the other hand, has already been eliminated. Friday's match is a must win encounter for both Australia and Pakistan.

Australia registered an impressive win against Bangladesh on Monday after losing its opening match against New Zealand last week. Aussie opener Usman Khwaja (58) and spin bowler Adam Zampa (3/23) guided their side to a three-wicket win against the Bangladeshi tigers. "We haven't been good enough in the middle overs. We made it difficult at the end. Pakistan and India play well in these conditions and we have to do better. Our players have to adapt better," Aussie skipper Steve Smith said.

Pakistan, on the other hand, lost two of their previous WT20 matches and is desperate to win the Mohali encounter against Australia in order to remain in the fray for the semi-finals. The Shahid Afridi-led side was first defeated by arch rival India last week and then by group leader New Zealand on Tuesday. The black caps scored 180 for five in 20 overs and then restricted Pakistan 158 for five.

"First of all, want to congratulate him (Williamson). The bowlers bowled well in the middle, we played well in the first 6 but after that we didn't. Easily we could have scored more than 6 but we didnt. We tried to hit the ball, tried to go for the boundary and we played a lot of dot balls. We still keep repeating the same mistakes, every game we are making the mistakes. We have to forget this game and focus on Australia," Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi said.
