South Africa Women will take on Sri Lanka Women in a Group A match of the Women's T20 World Cup 2016 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk in Chennai on Wednesday.

South Africa and Ireland are clubbed together with Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka in Group A of WT20. The Proteas women need to beat struggling Ireland in stay in the fray for the semi-final spot.

The South African ladies, who lost their opening game, are looking to register a comeback win against the struggling Ireland side. The Mignon du Preez-led Proteas began their WT20 campaign with a six wicket loss against Australia in a low scoring match at Nagpur on Friday.

The Aussie batters, led by skipper Meg Lanning and opener Alex Blackwell, easily chased down a 103, a modest target set by the South Africans. "The batting let us down (in the previous match). We played too many dot balls. We are working on our options of reducing them. We want to go to a place where we can score 130-140 more often," South African skipper Mignon du Preez said while blaming her batters for the loss.

The Ireland Women, on the other hand, lost both WT20 games. The Isobel Joyce-led Irish women, the lowest-ranked women's team participating in WT20, are hoping to surprise the out-of-form South Africa at Chennai.

"I think every game is our best chance to win, that's how we go into every match. We'll be hoping to surprise South Africa, they will probably be expecting to win. But we are definitely targeting this match," Ireland Women skipper Isobel Joyce said ahead their must-win game against South Africa on Wednesday.
