England will take on Afghanistan in its third match of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Twenty20 World Cup 2016 on Wednesday at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi.

The rejuvenated England look to dominate over minnow Afghanistan, which remains winless in the global twenty event so far.

England registered a remarkable comeback win in a Super10 Group 1 match against South Africa on Friday after losing their opening WT20 match against West Indies. Joe Root's match-winning 83 off 44 balls knock powered England to chase down a massive 230-run target with two wickets in hand.

"We have always got a chance in this format of the game with the quality of players we got in our dressing room there. We knew that we have depth in our batting and if we get a good start which we did, we are more than capable of winning that game. Without that start that would have been difficult for us, the guys did a fantastic job," Root said.  "The best thing about today is that it wasn't our complete performance as we didn't play our absolutely best and we can still win a game chasing down a total like that."

Afghanistan, an ICC affiliate nation, has lost its first two games of the World T20. It is placed at the bottom of the Super10 Group 1 and virtually has no chances to seal a semi-final berth. The Afghan coach Inzamam-ul-Haq, a former Pakistan cricketer, believed that the Afghan cricket team needs more international exposure to improve its performance.

"It feels good that people are appreciating Afghanistan. Boys have worked hard. We have qualified for the World Cup and played good cricket. Okay, we have not been able to win a single game, but have played good cricket. So if we improve a level, we can win," he said.
