Opener Chris Gayle, one of world's most dangerous Twenty20 batsmen, slammed an unbeaten hundred to guide his side to a comfortable win over England. Gayle struck 11 maximums and five boundaries in his 47-ball hundred, the fastest ever in the history of World T20. Batting first, England posted a challenging total of 182 on thee scoreboard with the help of Joe Root (48), Jos Buttler (30) and skipper Eoin Morgan's (27) knocks. The West Indies chased down the target in 18.1 overs with six wickets in hand.

Sri Lanka also began its WT20 campaign with a triumph against Afghanistan. However, the Angelo Mathews-led inexperienced Sri Lankan side will face their first real test of World T20 against Chris Gayle and co on Sunday.

In a massive blow to Sri Lankan squad, fast bowler Lasith Malinga has been ruled out of the WT20 due to a knee injury.
