Madonna was recently accused of performing under the influence during her shows, but she wants to make it very clear that this has never been the case.

The 57-year-old singer took to Instagram to slam speculation that she was intoxicated during the Australian leg of her Rebel Heart tour and stop the rumors once and for all.

"Thanks for supporting me," she captioned a screenshot of a message from a fan defending her. "Too bad people don't know the art of acting and playing a character. I could never do any of my shows high or drunk."

In the fan's message, he said that "the latest media onslaught against Madonna" is "absolutely ridiculous." He then explained that the accusations "are noting short of yet another MISOGYNISTIC attempt to undermine a highly accomplished woman's value," and Madonna could not agree more.

"And yes underlying all of this is sexism and mysongony," she added, "which proves that not only do we not get equal pay but we are still treated like heretics if we step out of line and think outside the box! Sexism is alive and kicking but I am  #livingforlove."

This post comes just days after tabloid reports claimed Madonna was "drunk" while performing as a "bizarre clown" during her tour because of the custody battle she's currently involved in with her ex-husband Guy Ritchie. Since so many reports were focusing on the fact that she drank one Cosmopolitan during the performance, her rep had to release a statement in her defense.

"She was not drunk, and as promised; Madonna had one cosmo onstage," her rep said. "Nothing more. Nothing less."

In January, while performing in Louisville, Ky., rumors also started to go around saying that she was performing under the influence of alcohol and "trash talking" people while onstage. Since she showed up three hours late to the concert, some of the people in the audience said that she was "very drunk," acting "funny" and mocking the locals.

Several concertgoers took to social media at the time to slam the pop diva. "This concert experience has been one of the weirdest in my life," one fan tweeted. "I'm pretty sure Madonna is hammered drunk on stage."

This caused Madonna to take to social media to defend herself for what she probably thought would be the only time. "For those people who like to believe all they read I never drink and perform," she wrote at the time. "My show is 2 hours and 15 minutes of non stop singing and dancing. In Louisville I made a joke about doing a stand [up] comedy act dressed as a clown and being able to drink alcohol. Its so very interesting how society continues to not only treat me in a totally sexist way (if I were a man no one would have said a thing) and also continue to take everything I say literally! That's what happens when people don't read books and get all information from TMZ."
