Dwight Yorke thinks his former club, Manchester United, should fire current coach Louis Van Gaal, and Yorke's number one choice to replace him? His ex-teammate, Ryan Giggs.

Giggs and Yorke were squad mates during some glory years at Manchester United under previous coach Sir Alex Ferguson; under Ferguson, they won a famous treble of trophies in 1999, including The Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League.

However, since Ferguson retired almost three years ago, the team's fortunes have dwindled. Manchester currently sits in sixth place of the Barclay's Premier League after a poor run of results and recently suffered a 2-0 humbling at the hands of bitter rivals Liverpool in the UEFA Europa League.

Surely Manchester United's last realistic chance at silverware this season will be the FA Cup where they must now re-play a resilient West Ham United side after barely salvaging a 1-1 tie on Sunday afternoon. It seems to be a must win for Van Gaal if he hopes to maintain even the slightest chance of securing his job.

Yorke isn't so optimistic at the prospect though. "In the two years that he's [Van Gaal] been there, he's spent tons of money, brought in tons of players, and simply hasn't got the results that he and everyone else had hoped to," Yorke said.

Yorke went on to add that he sees a new trend in terms of football managers with younger, ex-players being hired as opposed to a veteran tactician. "You see a lot of young managers, Zinedine Zidane's been given the opportunity at Real Madrid, you got Luis Enrique at Barcelona, Pep Guardiola who's coming to Manchester City, Tottenham's Mauricio Pochettino, they're all ex-players and I feel that the game is going down that road, and maybe this is the right time to give Giggsy the job," he said.

Although Giggs does not possess a lot of coaching experience, he has served as a full-time assistant to both the dismissed David Moyes and currently under Louis Van Gaal. He also took over as interim head coach for four games in the spring of 2014 after Manchester United fired Moyes. He maintained a record of two wins, a loss and a tie.
