"One Punch Man" fans might be in for the long haul while waiting for the anime's second season after rumors emerged that Yusuke Murata's team would not be able to meet their self-imposed deadline of finishing the second season within the year, reported The International Business Times.

Murata previously announced that he and his team have set a strict timetable for themselves, pledging to fans that they would be developing 100 sketches, 100 inked pages and 100 storyboards for 10 hours every day.

With a declaration like that, Murata and his team seemed to have attempted the impossible. After all, such a schedule rings very close to the titular character's "unrealistic" training regimen, which has become one of the series' most notable taglines.

Eventually, however, Murata allegedly threw in the towel. Recent reports have stated that the timeline for the anime's second season has been pushed back another year in order for the animators to focus on the quality of the upcoming anime, reported The Bit Bag.

Such a decision seems wise, however, as rushing the second season of "One Punch Man" seems a brash decision, anyway. After all, fans of the anime fell in love with the franchise due to its no-holds-barred execution. Thus, anything less than what the first season offered would only cause disappointment.

At the very least, the release of the second season, apparently set two years from now, assures fans that the next time Saitama graces the screen, the experience would be just as epic as ever, according to Cross Map.

The second season of "One Punch Man" is allegedly planned for yet another 12-episode run.
