In a market dominated by the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 and the Apple iPad Pro, a new hybrid device from a Chinese manufacturer has entered the game, and it seems intent on dominating the competition, according to Ars Technica.

At the Mobile World Congress trade show in Barcelona, Spain on Sunday, Huawei Technologies unveiled the MateBook, a 12-inch high-performance laptop/hybrid device that packs a lot of serious punches.

The device undoubtedly feels very premium, featuring an aluminum unibody construction with a very sleek frame. Running Windows 10, the device is also equipped with dual cameras and features accessories such as a keyboard case and a stylus which also doubles as a laser pointer and clicker for PowerPoint presentations, reports Morning News USA.

Though the device's accessories are unsurprisingly sold separately, the internals of the device are quite powerful, with the entry-level variant packing a screen resolution of 2160x1440 pixels, 4GB of RAM and 128GB of native storage.

The device also packs a pretty hefty battery, which Huawei says can last about 10 hours on a single charge. At just 640 grams, the device is also significantly lighter than its top two competitors, the iPad Pro and the Surface Pro 4.

As a sign of its aggressive marketing stance, Huawei has priced the MateBook very competitively, with the entry-level variant only costing $700, making it significantly more affordable than the competition, reports The Wall Street Journal.

With the release of the MateBook, Huawei has taken a bold and definitive step towards the new era of the business world, where power, portability, and performance are key.
