Warning: The following contains spoilers for AMC's "The Walking Dead" and Robert Kirkman's comics.

Although AMC's "The Walking Dead" prides itself on its inventive zombie kills and gory action, it is the relationships between the characters that keeps fans coming back week after week. Daryl and Carol are constantly scrutinized for any potential romantic links, Rick and Morgan are juxtaposed by their opposing ideologies, even Eugene's relationship with Abraham became an important subplot for a time. Viewers like to see characters navigate this tricky interpersonal crossroads.

But it's particularly interesting to hear the Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Negan, the iconic big bad from the comics, and Chandler Riggs' Carl Grimes will have a unique relationship once the former is finally introduced.

Star Andrew Lincoln revealed the connection between the two, albeit cryptically and without much detail, in a sit down with Cinema Blend.

"I'm interested in the relationship between Negan and Carl and Carl and Rick," he said. "There's a very complicated, extraordinary psychology between those characters."

If Lincoln is to be believed, it sounds like the show will closely follow the storylines that play out in the original comic. Unfortunately, Negan won't be introduced until the season six finale, so fans will have to wait until season seven for this arc to come to live. But it will be worth the wait.

In the source material, an injured Carl tries and fails to take out Negan. But, being the psychopath that he is, Negan isn't angry about the attempt on his life. Instead, he's impressed by Carl's moxie and kind of takes him under his wing. Obviously, this isn't going to sit well with Rick, who hasn't always been the best father (though, admittedly, the guy has A LOT on his plate what with the apocalypse and all).

"The Walking Dead" will return to AMC for the second half of season six on Feb. 14.
