Caitlyn Jenner's journey has been empowering and inspirational to many, and the world-class Olympic athlete, motivational speaker, reality star and transgender advocate has now officially signed a book deal to write a tell-all memoir about her transition from male to female.

Best-selling "Friday Night Lights" author Buzz Bissinger confirmed to The New York Times on Tuesday that he and Jenner, 66, will publish the memoir together. Bissinger, 61, is also the journalist who wrote the July 2015 Vanity Fair cover story about Jenner when she first debuted as Caitlyn.

"Things have been moving so quickly that it will be nice to slow things down a bit and take the proper time to reflect on this journey," Jenner said in a statement, according to People. "I couldn't pick a better team, in Grand Central [Publishing] and Buzz, to make sure this story is told with a lot of honesty and care."

Just months after her Vanity Fair cover hit newsstands, Jenner reportedly approached Bissinger about the memoir, which will "chronicle her journey from Bruce to Caitlyn, and her brave transition into womanhood," according to New York Daily News.

Bissinger, who is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, has his own history of wearing women's clothes and makeup, and even made headlines several years ago when he revealed his closet fetish of cross-dressing in a tell-all GQ article.

"I've also been open about cross-dressing and certain aspects of gender fluidity, and that created a bond," he told The New York Times. "I made it clear to her before I agreed that everything has to be on the table, nothing can be left out, and I'm going to be interviewing dozens of other people. It's her book, but it's going to be reported out to keep her honest. She's been incredible open, and I think it has the potential to be a really important book."

The book will cover Jenner's childhood as Bruce and rise to fame as a gold-medal-winning Olympic athlete. It will also cover her first two marriages and her troubled relationship with her children, her marriage to Kris Jenner and of course, her transition and her experience so far as the world's most famous transgender woman.

"I elected to do this with Caitlyn because of the opportunity to create a book that will be riveting, important, and reveal all the complexities and twists and turns of her life from boyhood to transition," Bissinger said, according to Entertainment Weekly. "We both agree that nothing can be left out in capturing this unique and unprecedented journey. This is her story, and I am proud to play a role in telling it with grace and candor."

The untitled book is reportedly scheduled to hit shelves in the spring of 2017.
