A Florida man has been arrested in Sarasota after he burned down his car because "he didn't like it anymore" before reporting that it was stolen.

Finis Jordan, 76, gave a statement before the North Port Police Department and reported that his 2015 Chrysler 200 was stolen on Saturday, according to the New York Daily News.

However, the car was later found in the woods off McDill Road by Charlotte County Sheriff's Department.

Jordan changed his story numerous times after he was confronted by authorities before eventually admitting to burning his car in hopes of getting insurance so he can buy a better one, WFMY News 2 reported.

The suspect has been arrested by the North Port Police Department and the State Fire Marshall.

Jordan is currently being charged with arson and burn with intent to defraud insurer, as well as making a false report, according to The Sarasota Herald-Tribune.
