A Florida man's attempt at being Marty McFly from "Back to the Future" backfired as the car he was driving crashed through a strip mall Sunday morning when he apparently tried to go back in time, the New York Daily News reported.

The crash took place at Advanced Tax Services in the 3800 block of North Davis Highway at around 10:50 a.m.

The unidentified man, who told authorities that he wanted to "time travel," was driving a Dodge Challenger and was left uninjured after the crash, according to the Pensacola Police Department.

The car had traveled through the front door of the building and then came into a halt at the rear entrance of the building.

The man was then taken to a local hospital for evaluation, and charges have yet to be filed. No one was inside the building at the time of the crash, Sgt. Martez Lawrence said, according to The Pensacola News Journal.

"They said the building is unstable on the back side," said Ellison Bennett, the co-owner of Pensacola Caskets. "They told us not to go back in at all until the whole building has been cleared for safety."

Bennett, whose building is right next to the Advance Tax Service, added that it would have been "tragic" had the crash occurred on a weekday and if people were in one of those buildings. He is currently waiting for clearance to re-enter his business.
