Ricky Gervais poked fun at a lot of celebrities during his opening monologue at the 2016 Golden Globes on Sunday night. One of those celebrities was Caitlyn Jenner. "I've changed. Not as much as Bruce Jenner, obviously," he said of the reality TV star, according to The Daily Caller.

Gervais admitted that he was joking, but he didn't stop there. "She became a role model for trans people everywhere, showing great bravery in breaking down barriers and destroying stereotypes."

He then closed out his monologue of Jenner by taking a swipe at her involvement in a fatal car crash in Malibu, Calif., in February 2015. Several users on Twitter were not too happy with Gervais' comments and made their feelings known.

BuzzFeed reporter Toal Dameron tweeted: "Experiencing Ricky Gervais is the same experience emotionally as accidentally sitting on a wet toilet seat in a public restroom."

Meanwhile, another user tweeted: "Ricky Gervais is as edgy as your friend who laughs at his own Cards Against Humanity plays. #GoldenGlobes"
