The race to the Oscars remains wide open in many categories so Hollywood will look to the Golden Globes to give a clearer picture of what films and performers have the best chance of hearing their names called at the big dance next month.

For now, NBC will broadcast the 2016 Golden Globes this Sunday with returning host, Ricky Gervais. "Carol" led the film nominations with five including Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama, for Cate Blanchett. Netflix and HBO dominated the TV categories with eight and seven nominations, respectively.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association will also honor Denzel Washington with the 2016 Cecil B. DeMille Award.
