President Barrack Obama was in a hurry to wind up his final press conference of the year. The reason? He wanted to catch a special screening of the latest "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

Obama had started his press conference, the last of the year, with the announcement that it was not the most important event at the White House. "Clearly, this is not the most important event that's taking place in the White House today. There is a screening of Star Wars for Gold Star families and children coming up. So I'll try to be relatively succinct," Obama said, according to People.

The special screening of the blockbuster that has taken the world by storm was organized by First Lady Michelle Obama for Gold Star families. Michelle had announced the screening on Twitter. The Obamas joined families who lost loved ones in the Iraq War for the special screening of the J.J. Abrams-directed film.

Obama wrapped up his briefing with briefing with these words: "OK, everybody, I've got to get to 'Star Wars,' " reported The Los Angeles Times.

Shortly after Obama left the lectern, the White House Press Secretary got into the groove when he was flanked by two stormtroopers and the R2D2 droid. "You gotta admit, this is pretty cool," Josh Earnest said during the photo-op, reported The New York Times.

Obama answered questions related to topics ranging from climate change to terrorism during his 50-minute press conference. The First Family has since left for their annual vacation to Hawaii.
