We all know that "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will be a major hit at the worldwide box office. What we don't know is how big of a hit it will truly be. Will "The Force Awakens" challenge "Avatar" ($2.7 billion) for the top spot on the all-time box office list? Or, will J.J. Abrams' newest addition to the "Star Wars" saga settle comfortably into a top-10 slot? If today's numbers are any indication, the former is well within reach.

Disney announced that "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" scored $14.1 million total in its first day at the international box office. Throughout 12 territories (not including the United States or China), "Star Wars" was the No. 1 movie Wednesday in each. Domestic previews begin tonight at 7 p.m.

France scrounged up $5.2 million for "Star Wars," making it the biggest opening day ever in December (more than double the first day of "Avengers" and almost double the first day of "Jurassic World"). Italy also recorded their biggest opening day in December with $2 million. Other notable markets include Sweden ($1.7M), Norway ($1.1M), Denmark ($1.0M), Belgium ($0.8M), Netherlands ($.08M) and Finland ($0.6M).

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" still has 32 more international markets to open to, including Germany, UK, Russia, Australia, Korea, Argentina, Brazil and Mexico. When all is said and done, Disney and Lucasfilm's latest offering could be crowned King of the Box Office. We'll keep you posted as more numbers are reported.
