The first trailer for J.K. Rowling's "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," was released earlier this week, and now director David Yates revealed how the cast of the highly-anticipated film was cast. "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" stars Academy Award-winning actor Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, a leading "magizoologist" who travels to New York City in 1926. The first step in the casting process was finding an actor who could carry the weight of a "Harry Potter" spin-off on his shoulders, and once Redmayne was in, the rest of the cast was built around him.

"The other characters in this world had to react to him, they had to have a chemical reaction with Eddie," Yates told Pottermore. "So we went to New York and saw some really fine actors, a lot of them, over two or three days, one after the other in the same room, all of them with Eddie."

The same way the "Harry Potter" was not just about Harry, but Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley as well, "Fantastic Beasts" will tell the story of four heroes - not just one, as HNGN previously reported. Along for the ride with Redmayne's Newt is Porpentina, played by Katherine Waterston; Queenie, played by Alison Sudol; and Dan Fogler's character Jacob.

"Eddie has done certain scenes from this movie so many times with so many different actors," Yates continued. "When he was with Katherine, there was just something. It was amazing and I just thought, it's got to be Katherine. It's got to be. Then with Dan... Eddie and Dan are like Laurel and Hardy, so it had to be him. It's funny, how they just clicked."

"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" will be released in theaters on Nov. 18, 2016.
