While Daniel Radcliffe put away the Harry Potter glasses years ago, he still got an extreme case of "costume envy" when he saw the pictures of Eddie Redmayne dressed up as Newt Scamander in the forthcoming film "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."

"Oh f--k you, Eddie, in your brilliant costume - I got jeans and a zip top for 10 years, and you've got a great coat already?" he joked to NME magazine of Redmayne's character in the "Harry Potter" spinoff film, written by J.K. Rowling.

"Fantastic Beasts" tells the story of Newt, who is a magizoologist. The film takes place in New York City in 1926, decades before Harry Potter ever stepped foot inside Hogwarts, as HNGN previously reported. Filming for the movie is currently underway in London.

Radcliffe also discussed the upcoming West End play "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child," which is being billed as the eighth "Harry Potter" story. The play was co-written by Rowling and will tell the story of Harry as an adult and his youngest son, Albus.

When asked by NME about what it was like knowing another actor would play Harry, Radcliffe admitted that it would be "weird."

"I'm happy for it to go on without me. I've no ownership of it," he said. "Now that I know [Harry's in it] I actually really want to see it. It would be a mental thing to try and see it with lots of very excited Harry Potter fans. But I kind of would like to know what happens now."

"Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" officially opens in July 2016 in London.

"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" will be released in theaters on Nov. 18, 2016.
