"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" is still in production in England, but Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that the first trailer for the film will arrive on Dec. 15.

Along with the exciting news of the announcement, the studio, which also produced all eight "Harry Potter" films, released the first official synopsis of the movie.

"'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures," the synopsis read, according to a press release by Warner Bros. "Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident...were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt's fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds."

"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" is a spin-off from J.K. Rowling's popular "Harry Potter" series and takes place 70 years before Harry ever stepped foot inside Hogwarts. Rowling wrote the screenplay for the film herself based on her 2001 encyclopedia of magical creatures from the wizarding world, as HNGN previously reported.

Academy Award-winning actor Eddie Redmayne is in the lead as Newt Scamander with a supporting cast of Katherine Waterson, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, Ezra Miller, Colin Farrell, Samantha Morton, Jon Voight and Ron Perlman.

"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" will be released in theaters on Nov. 18, 2016.
