Ringo Starr's personal copy of The Beatles' "The White Album", the firts of the record presses and labeled No. 0000001, sold at an auction for $790,000 on Saturday.

The album brought in a $40,000-$60,000 pre-auction approximation, a figure that was smashed during the actual bidding, according to Rolling Stone.

An anonymous buyer made the purchase at a sale in Beverly Hills, Calif., Julien's Auctions said.

The acution houses added that sale broke a sales record established in 2015, with the first acetate recording of Elvis Presley singing sold at auction for $300,000. 

The album sale was followed by an auction of one of Starr's first drum kits, which Jim Irsay, the owner of the Indianapolis Colts, purchased for $2.2 million, according to the Associated Press.

The album was part of a large auction of memorabilia that once belonged to Starr and his wife, actress Barbara Bach. Other items that were sold during the bidding include a Rickenbacker guitar, which Starr received from the late John Lennon. It sold for $910,000.
