When the Marion County Fire Department in Ocala, Fla., received a distress puppy call Nov. 17, the team from Station 17 deployed to the scene had no idea about the chain of events that would follow this rescue. Upon arrival, they found a little chocolate Labrador retriever puppy had fallen into a drain pipe, said the Ocala StarBanner.

"She wasn't trapped, but she was scared and wouldn't come out," explained James Lucas of the fire department.

So the crew switched into rescue mode and was able to finally use an air bottle to coax the puppy to the edge of the culvert, where they could reach in and pull her out, according to the American Kennel Club.

Next was a trip to Marion County Animal Services to scan for a microchip to reunite the sweet little girl with her family, but no microchip was found.

The crew took the little pup back to the station to wait for an owner to come forward and claim their puppy. If no one were to claim her, one of the firefighter paramedics offered to keep the cutie since she had made quite the impression already on the entire team!

After the story appeared on Facebook, the owners recognized their lost puppy and came to the station to retrieve her, according to the Examiner. But after seeing the strong bond she had already formed with not only the team, but the firefighter who had pulled her to safety, they decided to give her to the rescuer.

So the rescuer adopted the little puppy he saved. Just beautiful!
