Shooting for the fifth installment of the $500 million "Underworld" franchise has commenced, Screen Gems and Lakeshore Entertainment announced Monday.

The film, titled "Underworld: Next Generation," will be shot in the Czech capital of Prague over the next ten weeks, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Kate Beckinsale will reprise her role of Selene, the iconic vampire, as HNGN previously reported.

Film No. 5 will also see the return of Theo James, who first appeared in the series in 2012's "Underworld: Awakening."

"Underworld: Next Generation" will take place after the events of "Underworld: Awakening," in which Selene woke up from a "cryogenic sleep to find herself in a future world where the existence of vampires and werewolves is public knowledge," according to Screen Rant.

Based on the screenplay by writer Cory Goodman, whose credits include "The Last Witch Hunter," "Underworld 5" will be directed by "White House Down" cinematographer Anna Foerster, according to IGN.

The film — which also stars "Outlander's" Tobias Menzies, "Sherlock's" Lara Pulver and Charles Dance of "Game of Thrones" fame — is slated to hit theaters in October 2016.
