IGN caught up with "Underworld" director Len Wiseman at New York Comic Con over the weekend, and spoke to him about the future of the "Underworld" franchise. If any of you are fans of these movies, then you're going to be pleased with what he had to say, as there are several things in development.

The first thing is that "Divergent" star Theo James is set to reprise his "Underworld: Awakening" role as David in a spin-off movie being developed. I assume it will be in the same vein as "Rise of the Lycans," which would be intriguing.

Wiseman went on to reveal that an "Underworld" TV series is in the works, but he didn't clarify whether it would be connected to the movie universe, or be a stand-alone entity. I personally feel that it would work much better if it was connected to the cinematic universe.

Finally, the writer and director revealed that there is also another "Underworld" sequel in the works. The best part about this news is that it would also star his wife, Kate Beckinsale, reprising her role as Selene. There's no solid plan in place yet, but I imagine that we will see the spin-off film with James first, and then come back to the future to make a direct sequel to "Underworld: Awakening," which left fans in suspense with an awesome cliffhanger ending that teased a giant end war, as well as Scott Speedman's return.

I've enjoyed the films in the "Underworld" franchise, and it's cool to hear that there are other projects in the pipeline. Hopefully, they will come to fruition...if for no other reason than to see Beckinsale gamboling about in her tight, black leather jumpsuit once again.
