An entire family of five died on Sunday after the car they were driving went into a lake in a suburb of Phoenix, authorities have revealed.

Onlookers who saw the Baxter family's SUV enter the Tempe Town Lake immediately called in emergency rescuers at around 12:15 a.m.

One fisherman and three responding officers dived in and dragged Glenn Edward, 27, Danica, 25, Nazyiah, 2, and one-year-old Zariyah. The body of Reighn, 3, was later recovered by divers, according to KSL.

"Our guys did as much CPR as they could until they were transported to the hospital," Michael Pooley, the spokesperson for Tempe Police said. The victims were then taken to a local hospital, where the parents and Zariyah later died.

Nazyiah was hospitalized under "extreme critical condition" at first, but also died later on in the day. Reighn's body was found by divers at around 10 a.m. strapped in the car seat in the last row of the vehicle, according to the Associated Press.

Investigators are still trying to determine the actual cause of the crash and the events leading up to it. Glenn Edward's body will be brought to the Maricopa County Office of the Medical Examiner in order to conduct an autopsy and toxicology test, according to the Chicago Tribune.
