Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver Dez Bryant returned to practice on Thursday, and is doing resistance training in hopes of playing next week against the New York Giants, according to Cowboys insider Mike Fisher.

Bryant had a standard bone graft as part of his surgery to repair his broken foot that he suffered Week One against the Giants. The Cowboys have stated for a while that Bryant will return by Week Seven against the Giants, and that quarterback Tony Romo is expected back by Week 11 against the Miami Dolphins.

The Cowboys have lost three consecutive games after starting 2-0 this season, and will look to turn it around after their bye week. The Cowboys are reportedly going with Matt Cassel over Brandon Weeden against the Giants, and likely hope the addition of Cassel and Bryant improves their offense.

The Cowboys only managed six points against the New England Patriots this past Sunday, and the addition of a big time play maker like Bryant may be just what they need. Bryant is one of the best receivers in the league, as last season he had 1,320 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns. Dallas has clearly missed his production, and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones likely anxiously awaits his return.

"There's different kinds of injuries," said head coach Jason Garrett, via ESPN. "But certainly his would be one that you would want to see him on the practice field and see how he handles it."

Bryant returned to practice Thursday, and while he is not 100 percent, it seems to be a good sign looking forward for Cowboys fans.
