New York Giants star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., has swelling in his injured hamstring, but he still is optimistic that he will play Monday night against the Philadelphia Eagles, according to Jordan Raanan of NJ Advance Media.

The former first round draft pick had an MRI on Monday that didn't show any serious tears, according to Raanan.

Giants head coach Tom Coughlin said that Beckham was day-to-day.

"The trainers seem to think he's made good progress. He wouldn't practice (Wednesday if there was one), no," said Coughlin, via NJ Advance Media. "Hopefully we'll get some work in before the end of the week."

Beckham has caught 31 passes this season for 428 receiving yards, with three touchdowns. He has 200 more yards than the next best receiver on the Giants, and will likely be needed this upcoming week.

The Giants are alone in first place in the NFC East, but every team is just one game behind - including the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles just scored 39 points in a win over the New Orleans Saints, and the Giants will likely need all their weapons on the field to keep pace with the Eagles offense.

New York will probably have Beckham on Monday night, but wide receiver Rueben Randle's status is unknown at this time. Randle told reporters following the game on Sunday that the hamstring injury was just a tweak, but there has been no information regarding his availability for this upcoming week, according to James Kratch of NJ Advance Media.

The Giants drove all the way down the field to score the game-winning touchdown over the 49ers last week. The Giants used running back Shane Vereen heavily against San Francisco, and will likely try to keep using him, as he keeps defenses on their heels.

The Giants' Monday night matchup against Philadelphia will have a big impact on how the NFC East turns out, and the Giants will want their best weapon, Beckham, on the field.
