A three-year-old New Jersey boy who was reported missing Tuesday was found dead in the woods not far from his home three hours later.

Brendan Link Creato was reported missing early morning by a family member from a tiny apartment building located in Haddon Township, Camden County prosecutor's office spokesperson Andy McNeil revealed.

The boy's body was found by a police dog at 9 a.m. in Cooper River Park. His death has yet to be determined, and no other details were released, according to CBS New York.

Brendan's parents are separated, and he split his time between his father and mother, both of whom share custody.

It is believed that Brendan spent his time with his grandparents Monday before he was brought to his father's home at around 9:30 p.m. He disappeared shortly right after.

McNeil would also not corroborate if the child had any signs of injuries, as the investigation is still ongoing. No arrests have been made thus far, the Daily Mail reported.

The road to the park from the little boy's home runs through a residential area filled with tons of big houses and huge lots.

The park in itself is dangerous, wherein it has stairs that leads to an undersized tangible landing that falls into a branch's water in Cooper River, according to the Associated Press.
