Several big name celebrities, from Ludacris to Mariah Carey, are set to appear on season two of "Empire," and now Tyrese Gibson is the latest to join that all-star roster.

The 36-year-old actor will be joining the hit show as Cookie Lyon's (Taraji P. Henson) newest love interest, according to Page Six. This will be a familiar task for the two stars, as they were involved romantically on-screen in the past as lovers in 2001's "Baby Boy."

"Me and Taraji, we gotta do what we do," Gibson told Wendy Williams on her talk show on Friday, hinting that he'll be playing her love interest. "I'm coming to get my girl back. All them dudes on there kissing my girl...I'm kinda done with seeing all that."

Cookie used to be married to the main character, Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) and then was romantically involved with Malcolm (Derek Luke) for a little until his character's role ended abruptly. While she is still trying to claim her spot within Empire Records, it looks like we'll be getting to know Cookie a little better as season two is set to explore her character further.

"We're going to see more of her backstory, maybe what her 17 years in prison were like, and a lot more flashbacks," Henson told HNGN of her role on the new season. As for her love interests, she said, "there are two coming my way."

Season 2 of "Empire" premiered on Wednesday, and it is unclear exactly when Gibson's character will be appearing.
