Tyrese Gibson is on a mission to become the next Green Lantern.

The 36-year-old "Fast and Furious" actor has posted over a dozen images of himself dressed as the green-colored superhero on his Instagram page. Several of the images were created by Instagram user @Bosslogic.

The actor reposted one of Bosslogic's pictures of himself dressed as the green-colored superhero, with the caption, "DETERMINED!!!!!! 20|20 shout to @bosslogix 'I am fully committed to suiting up for this adventure' - @Tyrese #GL 'In brightest day, in blackest night, No evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil's might, Beware my power, Green Lantern's light!!!'"

Despite campaigning for the role, Gibson might have to wait a few years before Warner Brothers Studios focuses its central action on the Green Lantern. The Marvel action movie isn't set to hit theaters until 2020. Producers believe it is "better to put as much distance as possible between it and the poorly received 2011 film starring Ryan Reynolds," according to Entertainment Weekly.

The 2011 version of the film only grossed $219 million and was considered a huge disappointment to fans. If casted, Gibson would play the John Stewart incarnation of the Green Lantern.

Before the Green Lantern can hit the big screen, Warner Brothers Studios has plans to release several DC Comics films, including "Suicide Squad," "Wonder Woman" and "Justice League" part 1 and part 2, which are rumored to hit theaters Nov. 17, 2017 and June 14, 2019.

Gibson can next be seen in "Furious 7," which hits theaters April 3.

 Rumor has it that.
